Peru Through My Art
Author: Vera Fainshtein
As an artist and design professor, I enjoy traveling, learning new languages, and getting to know people from different cultures. Most of my paintings are inspired by the places I visit in Latin America. I am especially fascinated by old architecture and contemporary urban landscape, the rich layers of history as well as the individual memories they represent.
I was very fortunate to explore Northern Peru with Koslachek Tours. I joined 2 of their private tours and highly recommend Koslachek to anyone who is interested in archeology, history, and Peruvian culture. Their tours are well-organized, highly engaging, and educational.
The tour itinerary was very balanced and included a wide range of activities from exploring archeological sites and world-class museums to doing social work at a local school and learning how to dance Marinera.
While on tour, I took a lot of photos and even had some time to sketch! Upon my return, I created a new series of watercolor paintings to reflect upon my experience. I hope you get a small glimpse of the Northern Peru as you check out some of my paintings below.
I am very grateful to the Koslachek Tours for giving me a rare opportunity to see the real Peru: visit off-the-beaten path places, have meaningful interactions with the locals, taste delicious home-made food, practice my Spanish, and, most importantly, get invaluable inspiration for my art.
